The USB flash drive is packed with navigation data for seven countries in South East Asia, with major and minor roads, towns, villages and plenty of points of interest:
Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

There is already 100% coverage of Singapore. The navigation data on the 2016 version covers over 2.3 million kilometres of road. The 2016 version features 6026 towns and communities.

Almost 2 million key points of interest are featured on the USB flash drive, including filling stations, car parks, museums, restaurants and hospitals. There are around 232,745 more POIs here than on the previous version. If required, the navigation system will also show the user the quickest route to 99 Mercedes-Benz service outlets. Some 40,146 restaurants and 4304 nightlife destinations have been added to the new 2016 version.

Map updates include millions of changes, e.g. new roads, crossroads, bypasses, junctions and motorway slip roads and exits. One section of road may feature up to 260 attributes, such as the number of lanes or one-way routing. All of these attributes and the vast number of points of interest have to be updated constantly. In this new version, for example, over 3461 roundabouts, 18,882 turning restrictions, 15,020 one-way streets and 180,117 street names have been updated. In addition, over 1,032,420 kilometres of road have been updated, including approx. 7060 sections of motorway and dual carriageway.

This navigation update for NTG5 is copy-protected for COMAND Online. To import up-to-date map data, a six-digit activation code is required in addition to the USB flash drive. Each activation code represents a licence to use the map data in a single vehicle and is exclusively valid for a specific combination of vehicle, COMAND Online and map version. Navigation updates can be purchased via the same channels as to date; the required vehicle-specific activation codes are available via the VeDoc system. The newly acquired licence is documented in VeDoc at the time of purchase. A charge is made for the activation code, but it can be re-requested free of charge in VeDoc in the event of a replacement. Details of how to import up-to-date map data and input the activation code can be found in the COMAND Online operating instructions. Ordering an activation code requires access to VeDoc and specific user permissions. Access to VeDoc is free of charge. Permissions are assigned by the VeDoc hotline.
