The USB flash drive is packed with navigation data for 47 countries, with major and minor roads, towns, villages and plenty of points of interest in: Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia (FYROM), Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, the Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and Vatican City.

The navigation data on the 2016/2017 version covers over 16.3 million kilometres of road.

Prime Coverage* has been significantly extended in the following countries: Czech Republic: +5 percent and Hungary: +1 percent.

Intensive work means that the quality of the maps for Czech Republic has been significantly increased (97,331 km Prime Coverage*, compared with 86,187 km on the previous version).

Precise navigation to the required house number has been expanded:
There is, for the most part, full house number coverage in central and northern European countries, while coverage has been improved in the following countries: Bulgaria: +5 percent and Russia: +3 percent.

The 2016/2017 version features 93,664 towns and communities.

Almost 6.8 million key points of interest are featured on the USB flash drive, including filling stations, car parks, museums, restaurants and hospitals. There are around 135,000 more POIs here than on the previous version. If required, the navigation system will also show the user the quickest route to 3126 Mercedes-Benz service outlets.
Some 21,933 restaurants and 2503 nightlife destinations have been added to the new 2016/2017 version.

Using the data from the Traffic Message Channel, the navigation system takes into account the latest motorway traffic bulletins and automatically calculates diversions.

Map updates include millions of changes, e.g. new roads, crossroads, bypasses, junctions and motorway slip roads and exits. One section of road may feature up to 260 attributes, such as the number of lanes or one-way routing. All of these attributes and the vast number of points of interest have to be updated constantly. In this new version, for example, over 40,986 roundabouts, 193,861 turning restrictions, 59,683 one-way streets and 992,239 street names have been updated. In addition, over 2,859,308 kilometres of road have been updated, including approx. 3201 sections of motorway and dual carriageway.

This navigation update for NTG5 Star1 is copy-protected for COMAND Online. To import up-to-date map data, a six-digit activation code is required in addition to the USB flash drive. Each activation code represents a licence to use the map data in a single vehicle and is exclusively valid for a specific combination of vehicle, COMAND Online and map version. Navigation updates can be purchased via the same channels as to date; the required vehicle-specific activation codes are available via the VeDoc system. The newly acquired licence is documented in VeDoc at the time of purchase. A charge is made for the activation code, but it can be re-requested free of charge in VeDoc in the event of a replacement. Details of how to import up-to-date map data and input the activation code can be found in the COMAND Online operating instructions. Ordering an activation code requires access to VeDoc and specific user permissions. Access to VeDoc is free of charge. Permissions are assigned by the VeDoc hotline.
