The ladder allows safe and easy loading of carrier bars and roof racks. It is pulled out of the guide rail (C-rail) using the attached rod and then tilted downwards. It can be used at the rear of the vehicle in the guide or detached and used at the sides of the vehicle. Securing kits (B6 656 0778 and B6 656 0779) prevent the ladder from sliding sideways. After use, the ladder is slid back into the guide using the rod and secured using a locking mechanism. Because the ladder is accommodated beneath the carrier bars, it does not restrict the load area.
The cargo on the carrier bars or roof racks on top of a van cannot be reached without a ladder.
